In ‘night space’, only selective lights are set in complete darkness. The information gained is not sufficient to capture the rest of the room. What does the viewer do with this remaining space? Is it filled with subjective images and stories, with memories and emotions? Is the lack of orientation points unsettling?
And is it even possible to capture a space (or reality) in its entirety in photography? A photograph always leaves something out at the edges, the photographer always chooses what to show the viewer. The picture frame sets a local and temporal focus. In the photographs of ‘night space’, this detail is clearly visible. Under the spell of a torch, details become visible. The rest remains in the dark.
